25 CRPF Jawans Martyed in Sukma
Nearly 25 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) soldiers were martyred in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh by Naxalites ambush yesterday night. This was a well planned massacre carried out by around 300 naxals attacking soldiers who are almost 150. In the attack 24 of them were killed and about 7 soldiers were severely injured. The injured jawans were rushed to a hospital in Raipur in a critical condition.
The encounter took place around 12:25 pm Burkapal-Chintagufa area in south Bastar area of the state.
Sukma is the place in South Bastar that is suffering from Maoist menace for decades. Earlier in March 11, 2017 Naxalites made a deadly attack and killed 12 CRPF jawans in the same Sukma district.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has cancelled his engagements in Delhi and had rushed for Raipur. He will be conducting meeting today. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Raipur to pay tribute to the soldiers died.
Several leaders condemn the incident and expressed condolences to the victims' family. But people say strict action should be taken against them and mere condemning is not enough.
'Enquired about the medical condition of CRPF personnel injured in Sukma. Pray for their speedy recovery and well being,' shared CM Raman Singh.
Prime Minister Modi stated 'Attack on @crpfindia personnel in Chhattisgarh is cowardly & deplorable. We are monitoring the situation closely. We are proud of the valour of our @crpfindia personnel. The sacrifice of the martyrs will not go in vain. Condolences to their families. May those injured in today's attack in Chhattisgarh recover at the earliest.'
DG CRPF visited Ramakrishna Hospital at Raipur where 3 injured jawans were admitted. He met them and discussed their condition with team of doctors.
