About 328 bonded labours were rescued from brick kiln in Tamil Nadu at Thiruvallur district 2 days before by the police. The workers all from the odhisha including 88 children were working at the brick kiln for least salary of about Rs. 20 per day.

They were forced to work for 12 hours per day with that least salary. The kiln owners brought them paying Rs.12000 for each family. They have paid Rs. 200 wage for worker and for brick loading men they gave Rs. 240 per week.

They were said to pay Rs. 400 per day and brought them from Odhisha. Police came to know the information from NGO (International Justice Mission) who met one of the labours injured and admitted in the hospital. As per the sources he was beaten up by the employer and admitted in hospital due to injuries.

District administration team led by revenue official S Jayachandran on Saturday conducted ride at the place and found the labours.

The rescued people were sent to their home state. The state government is supposed to give them Rs. 20000 to each family for their rehabilitation.

The same thing was happened last year about 300 people were rescued from same kiln. They are not feared about repeating it due to the weak law. They just paid Rs. 2000 fine under the bounded labour act. The activists have hope to get things change when new law come into force.
