37 Passengers Died at Gujarat Bus Accident
37 passengers including many students were died when the bus plunges in the river Purna at Gujarat state. The state government bus while on the way from Navsari to Songadh via Bardoli. From nearly 12 km from Navsari the bus at Khad Supa Bridge plunged into the river. Nearly 27 passengers are injured.
Many students were returning home after schools and colleges in evening by this bus. Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus met this accident on 5:30 pm on Feb 5 carrying about 50 to 60 passengers. The several injured passengers are rushed to the nearby hospital at Navsari town. The accident took place at 12 kilometers away from district headquarters and about 40 kilometers away from Surat.
It was reported that bus driver drove the bus with full speed and tried to over take another vehicle. It made to derail and plunge into the river. Some survivors after the accident said the driver lost his control over the bus since he had drove with full speed which is the main cause for it where several loss of lives.
The rescue operators rushed to the spot and to bring out the injured passengers they need to cut down the top of the bus first. With little water, the bus had high impact when reached down. It took some time to bring the big crane from the Navsari town and to take the bus outside the river.

Chief Minister Anandiben Patel tweeted 'Deeply pained to learn about the unfortunate bus accident on Purna River Bridge in Navsari. My prayers are with victims & their families! I have directed Navsari collector & concerned officials to expedite rescue & relief ops and provide required help to victims & their kin.'
