8 Fishermen Arrested - One Swallowed Glass Bottle After Sri Lankan Navy Threatens

Eight more Indian fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy claimed they have crossed the border for fishing. Sri Lankan Navy force also apprehended their motorized fishing boats. Meantime due to Navy's threatens one of the fishermen swallowed bottle and he had been admitted in Thirikonamalai hospital for treatment.

13 fishermen were arrested by them on Thursday. More than 55 fishermen and 130 boats are detained by Sri Lanka. The government of Tamil Nadu seeks Centre intervention regarding this. The centre must take strong highest diplomatic level to ensure the safety and security of our fishermen in the Palk Bay says Tamil Nadu CM. He seeks the immediate release of the fishermen and boats.


In 13 fishermen hailing from Rameshwaram were taken to Vadamarachi and nine from Nagapattinam district were taken to Kangesanthurai by the Lankan Naval personnel. Following this Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi Palanisamy wrote letter to Prime Minister.
