ADMK Begins Hunger Strike Shops Closed To Support TamilNadu Bandh

The Bandh has been conducted by Tamil Nadu Vannigar Sangam on April 3 (Tuesday) in order to emphasize the Centre to set up Cauvery Managment Board (CMB). To support the bandh, Tamil Nadu Hotel Owners Association, Pharmacy Association were also contributing the bandh on Tuesday. Following this, many shops, hotels, pharmacies were kept closed.

Meanwhile, the ruling ADMK has started the hunger strike at 8 AM in all the 32 districts. Every senior executive of ADMK including Ministers is holding the hunger strike. As a surprise to the party members in hunger strike canopy, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy and his deputy O Pannerselvam also participated with them. Since the ruling party was involved in the strike, supports from about 60 Associations were received.

In Madurai, more than 1000 shops were closed and also on behalf of  Thoothukudi Traders Association, all shops were closed in Thoothukudi. In Sivakasi, Fireworks factories were closed following that the firecrackers shops were also closed. In Chennai, the busiest Koyambedu Market looks totally deserted as more than 2500 shops in this area were closed. Since it was already informed about the bandh, no loaded trucks have arrived at the market. Coolies Association of Koyambedu Market has also participated in the strike. 

On Monday, DMK led Opposition parties involved in road and rail blockade in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and important cities. They protested in more than 30 places of Chennai. Fortunately, two DMK members in Coimbatore were blocked by policemen when they tried to set themselves ablaze.

In these circumstances, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder Ramadoss has extended his support to April 5 bandh that is planned to be conducted by DMK. He also stated that he would support all the protests related to Cauvery issue. Already trade unions said on Monday about their contribution in April 5 bandh that could affect the public transportation.
