BJP Candidate Ram Nath Kovind Is New President Of India

Members of Parliament and State assemblies have cast their vote for the President candidates on Monday. The vote count began today morning at 11 am, ruling party BJP’s candidate Ram Nath Kovind is in lead and the officially election result will be announced at 5 pm today. Meira Kumar is nominated by Congress and she is back in several votes than Ram Nath.

There are 8 rounds of counting. After receiving 11 states votes Ram Nath was a leading candidate. As it crossed the half way mark, he is set to win the presidential polls. Ram Nath Kovind had been leading with votes 479,585 while UPA candidate Meira Kumar had 204,594 in that round. Once the vote counts received from various states, the final result will be announced at 5 pm today.

The 71 years Ram Nath Kovind, former Bihar governor from 2015 to 2017 and also been member of Rajya Sabha for two times from 1994 to 2006. He was born on 1st October 1945 in Kanpur Dehat at Uttar Pradesh.

The new president would take oath on 25th July 2017. He will be 14th president of the republic India.
