The incident took place at the mid night of 19/20 Oct 2016. On 21st Oct, Pakistan rangers targeted BSF where Constable Gurnam Singh was injured by bullet who was standing guard at the Hiranagar sector along the IB. He was admitted to the hospital and his condition is critical.
Pakistan denies of having any causalities on their side. It claims no rangers on their side have been killed.
'This firing from Pakistan was effectively retaliated and that has claimed the casualties of Pak Forces. It was in high alert all along International Boundary and ready to foil any infiltration attempt,' BSF stated.
'After the two forces held meeting in August last year such incidents have not been reported. Even after the September 29 surgical strikes, there was no provocation along the International Border.
