Cauvery Issue PM Calls For Peace

After Supreme Court modified its earlier order on Monday, protest by activists in Bengaluru became even stronger. Supreme Court ordered Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs of water per day to Tamil Nadu till Sept 20 instead of 15,000 cusecs.

People of some organizations especially pro-kannada organization came out to the street and involved in large protest. But some unknown people have involved in various violence actitivies by burning private vehicles and buses. Some Tamil speaking people were also attacked. Over 55 buses and tracks of private organizations have set to fire last evening. Over 15000 cops were deployed in Karnataka.

On Monday evening Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha shot a letter to CM of Karnataka to ensure safety for Tamil people in the state. In the letter she also ensured security arrangement for Kannada speaking people in Tamil Nadu.

Violence had broken out in Tamil Nadu on Monday. Some protesters attacked and damaged properties of hotel run by Karnataka people.

The gloomy situation prevails in Karnataka and today Karnataka CM Siddharamaiah had arranged for emergency cabinet meeting.

Today PM Narendra Modi called for peace and urges people to display sensitivity and also to keep in mind their civic responsibilities.
