Chennai Cyclone Vardah Recovery Updates

Sun has come out in Chennai today after the horrifying cyclone Vardah on Monday. It had killed at least 10 people in the city and nearly 10000 people near the coastal regions are evacuated in the safe places. Flight operations and sub urban trains are suspended in the city. Chennai airport resumed the operation this morning. Sub urban trains will be resumed once after the electricity is recovered.

Power recovery operations are being carried out in many places. Due to this several private organizations unable to set at work today. There is no rain or storm in Chennai now but recovery works are going there. No networks and power supplies in many places. Cyclone which hit city with 120 kmph storm had uprooted thousands of trees and lamp posts in the city.  There were heavy rain in north Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. It is reported cyclone impact has been lowered today and the city will witness light showers to heavy rains today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked people of Chennai to stay safe. 'My prayers are with all those people who are affected due to adverse weather conditions caused by #CycloneVardah. Stay safe,' Modi tweeted.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh contacted Chief Minister of both states and enquired about the damage and help need from center.

The army, air and navy forces stood to assist the rescue works in the city. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had deployed nearly 16 teams in the rescue operations. All schools and colleges remined closed today in Chennai, Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts.
