Chennai First Metro Train To Run From May 14
After Kolkata, Delhi and Bengaluru it is Chennai to launch the underground line of Metro train. It will cover the distance of eight kilometres from Nehru Park to Koyambedu. It is set to open on May 14th. Trail runs and inspections are completed already.
Seven underground stations include Kilpauk, New Avadi Road, Shenoy Nagar, Aminjikarai, Anna Nagar and Thirumangalam and Koyambedu.
Metro train official said there will be no mobile connectivity in the tunnels for at least 3 months. Signal boosters are yet to be installed in tunnels.
CMRL had comes up with idea of using smart card to increase the passengers using metro. It has plans to issue smart card s to passengers at discount of 10 percent. The maximum ticket price will be Rs. 100 for to and fro from Nehru Park to Chennai airport.
