Chief Minister Jayalalitha had visited various flood affected areas in Chennai on Monday. She had allocated Rs.500 crores for immediate relief work in the affected areas. CM said the relief and rehabilitation works are in progress under the war footing.
She had allocated 4 lakhs to 12 members' families who lost life due to rain in 5 districts. She also said about the relief and rehabilitation works done by her government in the rain affected areas.
The senior ministers were sent to the Cuddalore district on Nov 9 and 10 following the heavy rain to set the restore works. Power supplies and drinking water restore works taken immediately when the district is affected by flood and lost the power and water supply. She also noted the relief works carried out in other areas including Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore and Chennai.
Food and water supply is provided in the rain affected areas also Medical camps and veterinary medical camps were set. Rescue team is in full swing in the affected areas at Chennai and other districts.
Due to heavy rain and flooded area people were suffering a lot, they were arrested in their houses and affects their normal life in many areas. Many trains were cancelled that is scheduled to start from Chennai. Schools, Colleges and educational institutes remain closed at Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts.
There is increase in price of vegetables due to heavy rain across the state. CM ordered opening of 50 more farm fresh outlets to meet the increase in demand of vegetables and to control the price.
People residing besides Adayar river had given warning fearing of floods on Monday. Death due to rain related incidents have crossed above 50 in Tamilnadu. Today Weather forecast says Northwest monsoon fury continues in Tamilnadu and it is expected from moderate rain to heavy rain across the state particularly in north sea shore areas.
