Election commission had announced election in 4 states and in one union territory Puducherry. The states that battles in election are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry. The polls begins in April 4th and end in May 16. The counting starts from May 19 and completes it by May 21.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry polling falls on May 16. There are many first in this election. First time the election commission had introduced symbol for NOTA option (None of the Above). Central Police polls covers polling stations in Assam and West Bengal. The candidates photos will be included along with the name and their party symbol. Nearly 17 crore people are ready to vote in 5 states. Tamil Nadu presently ruled by AIADMK, Kerala and Assam's ruling party is congress and its Allies, AINRC rules Pudhucherry and Trinamool Congress in Wes Bengal.
