With the launch of IRNSS-IG, the seventh satellite placed in the orbit India’s navigation system goal was achieved.
Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C33 carried IRNSS-IG satellite (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System) which was launched in Sriharikota Space Centre today noon at 12:50 pm. After 20 minutes PSLV-C33 placed IRNSS-IS in its orbit.
Other countries having its own navigation system includes US, China, Russia and the European Union.
The goal of IRNSS is to provide accurate information of the place to the users in India that extends about 1500 km from boundaries. It also helps in marine navigation, terrestrial navigation and many other services are integrated with is satellites.
