Jayalalitha Seeks AIIMS Project from Central Soon
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha today requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to finalize the location for AIIMS in the state. To set up All India Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital (AIIMS) in the state was earlier on 2014 requested by the Chief Minister.
Now on the letter to Prime Minister, She had requested to spot the location that was earlier inspected by Central government on 5 different places in the state.
State government showed five different places in Tamilnadu last year April for 4 days to the authorities of central government. The places include Sengipatti in Thanjavur district, Chengalpattu in Kancheepuram District, Pudukottai Town in Pudukottai District, Perundurai in Erode District and Thoppur in Madurai District.
In the letter to Prime Minister, Chief Minister Ms. J. Jayalalitha stated
'You would recall that soon after an announcement was made in the Union Budget 2014-15 that new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences would be set up in different places in the country, I had written to you on 18.7.2014, appreciating the initiative and requesting that one such Institute should be established in Tamil Nadu. I had also indicated that the State Government has already identified the required extent of land at Sengipatti in Thanjavur District, Chengalpattu in Kancheepuram District, Pudukottai Town in Pudukottai District, Perundurai in Erode District and Thoppur in Madurai District.
In response, in the Union Budget 2015-16, the establishment of an AIIMS in Tamil Nadu was announced.
A Central Team visited Tamil Nadu from April 22nd to 25th, 2015 and inspected all the five identified locations. However, so far the final decision of where the AIIMS in Tamil Nadu would be set up is yet to be communicated.
This prestigious project will provide state of the art medical facilities and services to the people of Tamil Nadu. I request you to expedite the announcement of location of the AIIMS in Tamil Nadu and to ensure that the construction and establishment of AIIMS is initiated without any further delay.'
Meanwhile, AIADMK is looking on its forth coming election process. DMK has announced about joining hands with Congress on Feb13. Now the present ruling parties has to take steps. As per the source talks are going on at higher level between BJP and AIADMK. Soon we can expect the announcement by the parties.
