Kanyakumari to Bangalore Island Express Derailed
On the border of Karnataka and Tamilnadu Island express had met an accident at 4.15 pm on Friday. Nearly 14 persons injured and nearly 11 coaches of the train were derailed near Natrampalli. The accident spot is nearly 90 kilometers away from Vellore town.
Immediately after the accident, Bangalore divisional manager with his team members rushed to the spot. The rescue team spotted out 14 passengers were injures and took them to the Natrampalli government hospital for treatment. The coaches include S6, S7 and S8 were heavily damaged.
The remaining passengers were brought to Jolarpettai by special trains and some passengers were sent to Bangalore through 5 buses. The reason of derailment is yet not known. The railway authorities said all the passengers were sent to their respective place by buses and special train. As per the report none of them was seriously injured. But the number of passengers injured is conflicting.
Island express started from Kanyakumari on Thursday morning and travel to the major cities in Kerala and it is set to reach Bangalore this morning. Many trains have been cancelled following this accident including Chennai-Bangalore Double Decker Express, Chennai-Bangalore Brindhavan Express, Bangalore Chennai Lalbagh Express, Jolarpettai Bangalore Express, Bangalore Arakonam Passenger and others. Railway department reported 11 trains has been cancelled and it does not reveal the actual cause of the train derailment.
