West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that central ruling BJP would be removed from power only if there was a one-to-one contest in every state in 2019 Loksabha Election. Lalu Prasad and Congress would fight together in Bihar while Akhilesh and Mayawati would do it in Uttar Pradesh. Similar to that, whichever party is strong in a state, they should contest only against BJP, added the Trinamool Congress supremo.
After inquiring about Sonia Gandhi's health at her residence, Mamata Banerjee highly praised Sonia as the senior leader of the nation and added that she always has a good relationship with Sonia. Mamata wanted Congress to win Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018 and also said that an anti-BJP alliance could not be formed without including Congress.
Mamata Banerjee slammed BJP's decision in disinvesting its shares in Air India which is considered as the jewel of India and she wanted the government to withdraw it immediately and condemns the government not to sell the nation.
Meanwhile, Mamata has also grabbed the support of three BJP seniors in her four-day visit to Delhi. Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha, Arun Shourie have highly complimented the efforts of Mamata for organising the opposition parties against BJP and determined to give their full support to her adding that Mamata was our old cabinet colleague. BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha said that nation is bigger than party and they are supporting her for the sake of India, not anti-party action but pro-nation move. Arun Shourie criticised PM Narendra Modi that he has become tired and the government is paralysed.
Arvind Kejriwal, after about a half-an-hour meeting with Mamata, had not outspoken about it to media. Previously, Mamata had also met some important ministers and leaders of opposition parties that include Nationalist Congress Party, Shiv Sena, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Dravida Munnetra Kalagam and others at New Delhi.
Responding to Mamata's Delhi visit, BJP said that Banerjee's state was burning there, but she was doing politics in New Delhi and they related it to a famous quote "Nero fiddled while Rome was burning".
