Massive Fire in Natural History Museum at Delhi

Major fire outbreak in the National Museum of Natural History located in Mandi house at New Delhi in the early morning of Tuesday. Fire destroyed many rare exhibits in the six-storey building at the heart of the city.

Forty Fire engines rushed to the spot and after struggling for many hours the fire was put down which was started at 1:45 am. Thousands of people are used visit the museum daily. There is lot of rare specimens collected in the museum including 160 millions old fossil bone of dinosaur family. As per the report only first and ground floor survived and all other storey were destroyed. The museum came into existence from June 1978.

The fire broke out at the top floor and gradually spread to other parts of building. It is reported that building safety measurement was not working. During the fight some fire fighters have been injured and rushed to the hospital.

The Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar visited the site and took his social media page to share about the fire break.

The museum has the collections of mounted animals, rare specimens, galleries like conservation of nature, ecology, the food chain, evolution of life and many more.
