PM Modi Announces Task Force for Next Three Olympics
Prime Minister Narendra Modi forms Task Force to improve India's performance in upcoming Olympics 2020, 2024 and 2028. To boost up the Indian sports people and to make effective participation Modi has come up with action plan on Friday.
Task force would be set up in next few days. It will focus on sport facilities, selection and training process. It makes the sportsperson prepare for their next Olympics. Modi made this announcement at the cabinet after the various complaints on the lack of facilities and support at Rio Olympics.
India's Rio Olympics team turned to win 2 medals at the after 10 days of event. It managed to win two medals that were lower than the medals in London Olympics. In 2012 London Olympics India won 6 medals out from 65 players. India's wrestler Sakshi Malik and shuttler PV Sindhu won bronze and silver respectively.
India's Gymnastics Dipa Karmakar had welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcement of forming task force. She thanked Modi for bringing task force and she has hope of India winning more medals in upcoming Olympics. Dipa, a 23 years old Tripura girl had missed bronze in finals in about 0.15 point.
The task force is to prepare overall strategies for sports facilities, selection, training procedures and other related things.
In the Rio Olympics, Indian individual players showed their performance lesser than what they did before. Only 4 track athletes reached finals out of 34. Only 13 athletes had given their best out of 85 individual athletes. The sports authority of India earlier predicted that it could win 10 – 12 medals in Rio Olympics.
There are multiple disappoints in this Rio Olympics rather than winning 2 medals. Most of the athletes did least performance than that of qualifying round for Olympics. The experts say that it is due to the lack of support for the athletes.
