Public Transport Likely To Affect On April 5 Bandh

According to the discussions in an All-party meeting held on Sunday, the DMK led opposition parties have called for bandh on April 5 to condemn the Centre for not constituting Cauvery Management Board (CMB). Recently, Leaders of AITUC, CITU, LPF and INTUC jointly said that trade unions would be joining the opposition parties bandh on April 5. This could affect the public transport on April 5. 

Meanwhile, DMK chief Stalin had stated in his letter to party members to make ensure that public, farmers, labours and all others shall contribute to April 5 bandh. Already DMK members have made road blocks in important cities of Tamil Nadu - Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and Trichy.

Also, people in Thoothukudi were protesting for more than 50 days against Sterlite Copper factory to shut down permanently.

Already, TamilNadu Vannigar Sangam Peraimappu President Vikrama Raja declared that all shops will be closed from dawn to dusk on April 3 bandh that largely affect the normal life of people tomorrow.  Recently, Hotel Owners were also planning to support April 3 bandh by Tamil Nadu Vannigar Sangam. Also, other opposition parties who are not joining DMK's April  5 bandh were protesting on different dates in this week.

In these circumstances, Governor Banwarilal Purohit has convened a meeting with Chief Secretary Girija Vaidhyanathan, Home Secretary Niranjan Mardi, DGP T.K.Rajendran, senior advocate Vijayanarayanan and other important higher officials of Tamil Nadu. They discussed the precaution measures taken to tackle the law and order issues in Tamil Nadu and the Governor also asked for a report regarding the measures taken by them.
