Strong Earthquake measuring 7.7 hits North India

The massive earth quake was felt in North India from Jammu to Delhi about 7.7 magnitude on Richter scale. The epicenter of the quake is at the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan according to the India Meteorological Department.

People were running outside of the buildings and houses that shook everyone of about 4 to 5 minutes. So far no reports on the damage, some reports say people were killed in Pakistan. There are heavy tremors in Jammu and Kashmir regions.

The strong quake was felt around 2:40 pm that jolted entire North India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Several states in North India felt the quake including Jammu and Kashmir, NCR, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his twitter page to pray and provide assistance for everyone.

'Heard about strong earthquake in Afghanistan-Pakistan region whose tremors have been felt in parts of India. I pray for everyone's safety. I have asked for an urgent assessment and we stand ready for assistance where required, including Afghanistan & Pakistan.' Modi tweeted.

All the works halted in the cities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and North India. Phone lines dropped down due to earthquake at Srinagar (J&K) ANI tweeted. The people rushed down of the buildings in a panic and the full damage is not known yet.
