Tamil Nadu Government Closed 500 TASMAC outlets
About 500 Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) were shut down from June 19 on Sunday. As per the promise made during election campaigns Jayalalitha AIADMK party initiated the first step to close TASMAC.
As the initial step it had closed 500 TASMAC outlets across the state. Chief Minister Jayalalitha had promised to close the alcohol shops in the phased manner. The employees in these shops will be posted to other outlets in the state.
After winning the election, Jayalalitha had ordered the reduction of shop times and she said to close 500 outlets as the initial step. According to the notice 201 shops in Madurai, 133 in Trichy, 60 in Coimbatore, 58 in Chennai and 48 in Salem will be closed.
As per the government order, the working hours has been reduced from May 24th. The working time is now 12 noon to 10 pm every day. Only two hours has been reduced. As per the people and social activists this cannot do any major changes in the liquor sales or in society. Now reducing 500 shops at initial step is good and people hope prohibition of alcohol in state completely.
The seniors most employees will be posted in the existing vacancies within the districts. One additional sales man will be appointed for the average sales of about 1 lakh per day. One additional supervisor will be placed in the outlet of average sales about 3 lakh.
