The protests have been continuing since April 2 to condemn the Centre for not implementing the Supreme Court verdict within the deadline (29 March 2018) and also for not constituting Cauvery Management Board (CMB) to satisfy the requirements of Tamilians. The protests seem to reach the next levels in the upcoming days. Today, DMK's MLA J. Anbazhagan and other DMK members are fasting near Chepauk Guest House to protest against Centre for the Cauvery issue.

Referring to a meeting of trade unions on Tuesday, 10 trade unions including CITU announced that they would be supporting the April 5 bandh conducted by Opposition Party DMK. So, it is expected that bus will not be operating on April 5 (Thursday) all over Tamil Nadu including villages. Also, it is said at least 30 % buses would be operated by the state ruling party to avoid the inconvenience of the public.
This reminds of an indefinite strike called on by trade unions asking the Tamil Nadu Government to meet their unfulfilled demands before the week of Pongal Festival 2018 making discomfort to the public.
Earlier, Stalin has also asked for support from Tamil Nadu Vannigar Sanga Peraimappu President Vikrama Raja to shut down shops on April 5. When questioned about the Stalin's request, Vikrama Raja replied that it would be discussed on April 4 with all the trade unions and revealed.
Already, Vannigar Sangam had closed many shops on April 3 bandh. In these circumstances, people's daily activities would be hindered if the shops are closed again on April 5. However, an official announcement from Vannigar Sangam shall be expected today.
