Women Fighter Pilots Ready to Make History

Three women fighter pilots are ready to fly on June 18 after their training. These 3 women fighter pilots will be first in the Indian history who will be formally commissioned into Indian Air Force (IAF) flying branch under Fighter Stream on June 18.

Avani Chaturvedi, Bhawana Kanth, Mohana Singh are the first batch women to fly in air as fighter pilots. There have been Women pilots since 1991. They are in various divisions that include flying helicopters, transport aircraft and others.

All the three ladies are much excited about the dreams coming true. Avani Chaturvedi belongs to Satna of Madhya Pradesh. Her father is a government executive engineer at the state. Her mother is a home maker. She studied in Adarsh Higher Secondary School new Rewa. She had completed BTech Computer Science at Jaipur.

She said her dream began when she got opportunity to experience few flying hours with her family army officers. She was inspired by them and made her to join IAF. She wants to become good fighter pilot and wants to fly the best fighter aircraft and learn more each day.

Regarding Bhawan, it is her childhood dream to fly like a free bird. She said she got a golden opportunity dor fighter stream after finishing her first stage of training. Her aim is to become a good fighter pilot and to make nation and parents proud.

She belongs to Bihar and her father was an engineer in Indian Oil Corporation at Bengusari. She is an engineering graduate at BMS College of Engineer, Bangalore. She did her schooling at Barauni Refinery DAV Public School.

Mohana Singh is from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Her father is working in IAF and her mother is a teacher. She did BTech (Electronics & Comm) in GIMET, Amritsar. She was educated in Air Force School at New Delhi. She wants to carry her father legacy by serving nation in air force. She loves to read, sing and draw during her leisure hours.
