Benefits of Native Breeds - Jallikattu, Banning of jallikattu with slowly destroys the native breeds of Tamil Nadu. Already native live stock is in threatened stage as there are imports of foreign breeds and cross breeds. Due to the technology improvements in agriculture and tractors there are no works for native bulls in farming.

Jallikattu is an ancient sport and there are proof that the sport is 5000 years old. There is also concrete evidence that it was been part of Tamil culture long ago. There were about 150 native breed varieties in the state. But now it is reduced to 37. It is a precious and prestigious Tamil heritage and people do not want to lose their last identity. All other Tamil identity from education to agriculture was vanished in the society due to business politics and foreign invaders. Jallikattu stands as the final identity of the people and they are fighting to overcome the ground work of some organizations planning to abolish this sport.

Many of the native breeds are sent to slaughtering house. Milk turned to key commercial element in India and high milk giving cows are imported. As a result we are losing our prestigious native cows which yield us A2 milk that has full of nutrition. Though native breeds yield small amount of milk it had highly nutritive. The native breeds are multi-purpose that gives manure which is highly used in organic farming. It is used to prepare medicines and natural farming fertilizers like Panchakavya and Jeevamirtham.

Many farmers are proving and highly successful by doing agriculture using native breed manure. They say it is a Gods gift and we have to hold it for successful farming. The few major breeds remaining are Kangayam, Pulikulam, Umbalachery, Barugur and Malai Maadu. Jallikattu ban will benefit beef exporters and slaughtering house. The foreign companies may still import the cross breeds (or genetically modified cows) which yield high amount of milk that is the main cause for diabetics and other disease today.
