DMK Announces their Candidates for Upcoming Assembly Elections 2019 including Sulur By-Election

Chennai: DMK general secretary K. Anbazhagan has issued a notice announcing their four Candidates of the Assembly Election for the vacant seats in Tamil Nadu. Lok Sabha elections 2019 is held from April 11 up to May 19 as seven phases all over the country. In the second phase of the Lok Sabha election, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry had its election process on April 18 along with 18 assembly polls for 2019. The Election Commission has explained that since the election results are pending in the three constituencies of Aravakurichi, Ottapidaram, and Tiruparankundram, assembly polls has not been announced in those areas.
Following the Sulur constituency AIADMK MLA Kanaguraj death of heart attack on March 21, the Sulur constituency was also empty. The opposition parties, including the DMK, insisted that the by-elections for the 4 constituencies should be held soon. The Election Commission announced that there will be a by-election from May 19 for the 4 Assembly seats in Aravakurichi, Ottapidaram, Tiruparankundram, and Sulur in Tamilnadu.
DMK President MK Stalin announced the names of the DMK candidates who will contest the by-elections for the 4 seats. Senthil Balaji at Aruvakurichi, Pongalur Palanisamy at Sulur, Dr. P. Saravanan at Tiruparankundram, M.Shanmugaiya in Ottapidaram are contesting in the by-polls representing the DMK Party.
The nomination begins on the 22nd of April for the 4 constituencies. The last date for filing nominations is set as April 29. The candidates may withdraw their nominations at 3 pm on May 2. The final candidate list will be posted on that day itself followed by the by-polls on May 19 and vote counting on May 23. AIADMK is said to be announcing their candidates who are contesting in 4 constituencies in one or two days.
