Mr Pongalur N Palanisamy has represented the DMK party in more than 10 elections from Coimbatore. After a break, the party has nominated him as their candidate for Sulur by-election. He rendered assistance in all the endeavours of the party and satisfied Coimbatore people with his humble services. Without a doubt, Coimbatore is Palanisamy’s hub because he was the Coimbatore DMK secretary from 1991 to 2011.

Pongalur N Palanisamy proved his strength through his tremendous victory in 2006 local body election. In that election, nine out of ten DMK candidates failed to make out except Mr Palanisamy. As a reward, the party honoured him with the position of Tamil Nadu Minister for Rural Industry and Animal Husbandry in 2007. He also won four assembly elections out of seven which he contested from Coimbatore. Moreover, he was a state minister twice. The party wanted to give chances to youngsters so Palanisamy served the party and people behind the screen for a few years after 2011. Now, he gets another chance to come to the spotlight.

The DMK is very keen to set a benchmark victory in the upcoming election. Nominating the experienced, elderly and famous politician for the by-election may increase the chance of victory for the party. Many DMK leaders including M.K Stalin, A. Raja, and E V Velu are marching towards Coimbatore to campaign for Mr Pongalur N Palanisamy. The nomination of Mr Pongalur N Palanisamy in Sulur Byelection has created a curiosity cloud among people and other political parties. Undoubtedly, Mr Pongalur N Palanisamy will work harder to make a great come back.
