Devendra Jhajharia Wins Gold Creating New World Record
Javelin Throw Athletes Devendra Jhajharia wins gold medal in Rio Paralympics 2016. He had won second gold medal in Paralympics, first gold in 2004 at Athens and now at Rio. He had created a new world record of 63.97 meters. He had overcome his previous best at Athens games of 62.15 meters.
India has so far won 2 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze in Rio Paralympics. Thangavelu Mariappan had won Gold for High Jump while Varun Bhati won bronze at the same event.
Deepa Malik is the first Indian woman to win medal at Paralympics. She bags silver in shot put F-53 throwing 4.61 m at the event in Rio de Janeiro. She is a mother of two children, wife of an Army officer and paralyzed from waist down. Spinal tumour made twist by walking impossible in her life before 17 years.
She was also participated in Javelin throw, swimming. She had created Asian records in javelin throw and also won medals in international swimming competitions.
