Rio to Tokyo: Olympics 2016 Closing Ceremony
Olympics 2016 in Rio came to an end with closing ceremony celebrations. International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach disclosed 31st Olympics 2016 had come to an end at the presence of over 60000 spectators and thousands of athletes on the ground of Rio at Brazil. The 32nd Olympics will be conducted in Tokyo, Japan on 2020.
Bach handed over the Olympic flag to Japan Governor Yuriko Koike on the ground. Indian ended this Olympics with two medals bronze and silver from wrestler Sakshi Malik and shuttler PV Sindhu respectively. Indian athletes had faced several struggles in the Olympic. In spite of both pros and cons Indian athletes managed to get 2 medals.
Gymnast Dipa Karmakar from Tripura made proud moment for India by entering into final and lost her bronze in some few point difference. Three female players made India proud in this Olympics.
India had finished this Olympics with 67th position after the two medals. India was shocked when bronze medal wrestler Narsingh Yadav of London Olympics did not pass the qualifying round. India failed to acquire medals in strong and traditional zones like archery and shooting. Meantime India’s hockey team first time played quarter finals since 34 years and defeated by Belgium team.
Lalita Babar did her career best in 3000m steeplechase and could reach 10th that improved her 3 second prior to her record. Another disappointment is shooter Abhinav Bindra lost her bronze in the last moment.
United States stands first wining 119 medals (44 Gold, 37 silver and 38 Bronze). Britain stands at second position with 66 medals while China with 70 and Russia with 53 occupies 3rd and 4th position.
The legendary Usain Bolt fast runner had won 3 gold medals in this Olympics too. Men’s 100 m, 200m and 4x100 m relay he had recorded fastest human. He is the nine times Olympic gold medallist who had created world records.
