New Li-Fi internet Technology 100 times faster than Wi-Fi

New Li-Fi internet Technology 100 times faster than Wi-Fi

New internet technology called Li-Fi was discovered which transmits the data up to 1 Gbps. It is almost 100 times faster than the present Wi-Fi technology.

This technology uses light to transfer the data. The technology was first discovered by Professor Harald Haas of Edhiburgh University on 2011. It was now tested by Velmenni, Tallinn and it proved that it is approximately 100 times faster than the Wi-fi connection.

The Velmenni CEO said that this technology will be available to the people in next 3 to 4 years. This technology required small micro chip and illumination device. The professor involved in this research says in the future it will be deployed everywhere. Researchers in Oxford Universities are also working at this Li-Fi technology.

Using Li-Fi tech the downloading of large data like video games, high definition albums and movies can be done in seconds. The major drawback of this technology are signals may be affected in direct sunlight,  it does not pass through walls and it requires visible light to work.

This will be highly secured and it works with existing technology to improve performance and speed. The professor Hass said 'In the future we will not only have 14 billion light bulbs, we may have 14 billion LiFis deployed worldwide for a cleaner, greener and even brighter future.'

Professor Harald Hass demonstrated Wireless data from every light bulb on 2011. It was published by TED on the same year.
