Delhi Air Pollution Becomes Bigger – 3 Days Holiday For Schools
Delhi witnesses the series air smog for past few days that is irritating. According to the people live in the city it creates eye irritation, sore throat, bitter taste in month and respiratory problems and so on. Children are affected much more than the adults. The government had announced 3 days holiday in the city. Meanwhile there is a large demand for mask and air purifier in the city. The mask is being in top sales ranging from Rs.90 to Rs. 2000.
To bring down this severe air smog that peaks for about a week, Delhi government had announced the emergency measure. Center for Science and Environment (CSE) has welcomed the initiative by Government
Emergency measures includes
- Shutting down the schools for 3 days.
- Closing the Badarour power plant for five days.
- All construction activities to be halted for 10 days.
- Sprinkling on PWD roads and weekly vacuum cleaning.
- Ban on leaf burning and area-wise penalty for officers
- Ban on use of Disel generators for 10 days
- Stop to transport of flyash
- People are advised to stay indoors.
The government is already exploring the possibility of implementing odd-even scheme under which, vehicles with odd registration number would alone ply on odd dates and even registration number on even dates.
Along with this vehicles contribute huge toxic smoke and a run on diesel to should be banned says the public. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also requested the neighbour states including Haryana and Punjab not to burn the crops.
The dust particles in the smog are 15 times more than the usual says the report. In 1984, Bhopal worst gas tragedy had claimed more than thousands of lives. Deadly Methyl Isocyanate (MIC) gas leaked from industry in Bhopal killed thousands and made lots of people to evacuate from the city.
The Air quality index have crossed over 500+ that is multiple times higher that the safe zone. It is very severe that may cause respiratory problems even for healthy people. People are in panic and witness the same side effects from this pollution.
