Indian Fisherman Killed By Sri Lankan Navy

A 22-year-old fisherman was shot dead allegedly by Sri Lankan force. It was the first murder after Sirisena became the President. So far they are continuously arresting the fishermen and detain the boats. They are destroying the livelihood of Indian fishermen so far. The relatives of the man died fishermen association head urge government to do sometime for their welfare. They urge government to save them from Sri Lankan’s brutality.

So far the center and state government took noting series reaction to stop the Sri Lankan Navy. Now they have started killing our fishermen.

Already more than 500 fishermen had been died due to Sri Lankan Navy. Now again they have started to kill us. At least government should take step to save our life though they cannot get back our boats.

The fisherman died was fishing inside the India's marine boundary. A group of fishermen were fishing between Dhanushkodi and Katchatheevu. Sri Lankan army opened fire at them. Four of the fishermen were injured and one dead. The person died is identified as Chitso from Thangachimadam. Following this horrible incident tension prevailed at the region and securities were tightened in Sri Lankan embassy.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy had written letter to stop harassment of fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy and to put enough pressure on Sri Lanka. He also pointed out 32 fishermen and 5 boats apprehended by Sri Lanka in recent incidents.
