Prime Minister Opens Adiyogi Shiva Statue Isha Foundation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Isha Foundation at Coimbatore today and he unveils 112 foot Adiyogi Shiva carving at the event. It is a part of  the auspicious Maha Sivarathri celebration at the center.

Several big politicians including Tamil Nadu CM edappadi K Palanisami, Chandrababu Naidu (CM of AP), Shivraj Singh (CM of MP) and Tamil Nadu governor Vidhyasagar Rao and Kiran Bedi (Pondicherry lieutenant governor) will attend the event.

Meantime several social activists have requested Prime Minister not to attend the event and opposed 112 foot statue. They claim violation of environmental norms by the foundation and construction of building and statue adversely affects biodiversity.

The former Madras high court judge D Hariparanthaman said Isha foundation has illegal constructions over 13 lakh sqft. To be noted on November 2012 the organization received notice to stop the works of illegal construction of buildings. On Dec 2012 another notice was issued to demolish the illegally constructed buildings.

The ceremony will start about 5:30 pm. PM Modi will be received by present Tamil Nadu CM at the Sulur airport and expected to arrive at Isha by helicopter. The event will be live telecasted across the nation. About 5 lakh people are expected at the event.
